Desa Penglipuran

Penglipuran is one of Bali’s best-kept secrets, hiding in plain sight. Tucked into the cool highlands of Bangli, this 14th-century Bali Aga village still runs on a layout unchanged for centuries: one stone-paved street, arched entrance gates, and family compounds wrapped in neat green hedges.

It earned a spot on the UN Tourism Best Tourism Villages 2023 list — not for spectacle, but for the daily discipline of keeping things clean, ordered, and sacred.
