Warung Janggar Ulam, known by regulars as Warung JU, is a long-standing family-run Balinese eatery in the rice paddies between Peliatan and Teges Kangin, just east of Ubud centre. Founded in 2001 by Pak Wayan Sukerta, the kitchen focuses on Balinese classics from the Gianyar tradition: bebek betutu (slow-roasted duck), urab (steamed greens with grated coconut), lawar (mixed greens with minced pork or jackfruit), and the house signature didi maem thinly sliced pork stir-fried with snake beans and Balinese spices. Open daily for lunch and dinner, the open dining pavilion overlooks rice fields with the Batukaru ridge on the horizon. The kitchen cooks-to-order, the menu is a single handwritten sheet, and most visitors are pointed here by local drivers and repeat guests of small family guesthouses. Free wifi, cash only.
